What is your role at UCLA?
Manager, Space Inventory Services.
Before joining UCLA, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
Working with national artists at a small art gallery for proper display of artwork and opening night receptions.
How do you balance your career at UCLA and family?
It is difficult since I ride a van pool and it seems I am either going to work or going home with little time in the evening. However, I make time to participate in family events and prioritize time with my husband and best friend.
What was your first impression of UCLA? Has it changed at all over the course of your time at UCLA?
Very big!! The campus seemed huge and I got lost quite a bit. It is more in scale now and I enjoy getting lost now and again.
What’s your favorite aspect of your job?
Partnering with the campus departments to update their rooms and help with issues that arise. The people are terrific!
When are you the most productive and why?
Monday morning. I am rested from the weekend and have a plan for what needs to get done first thing and I do it.
What do you consider your greatest achievement? What is your proudest moment at UCLA?
Moving to Los Angeles from Colorado later in life and leaving all that is familiar and delving into an enjoyable, exciting new life.
If you could change one thing about UCLA, what would it be?
Increased overlap with departments to escalate efficiency and collaboration.
Tell us about someone who has mentored or influenced you the most in your career path. In what way did he/she/they shape your decisions?
My best friend when I was first preparing and starting my career. He gave me the confidence and fortitude to stand up for what I believe and pursue my interests without reservation.
What do you think is the most important quality you need to have for success in UCLA or in general?
Have an open mind about a variety of issues and respect others opinions.
What would you tell someone who is applying for a job in UCLA?
Keep pursuing all opportunities because sometimes the one job you might not consider is the chance at a thrilling career.
Share with us something about you that most people don’t know but you would like them to.
I have owned a classic 1969 muscle car for over 30 years and display it at shows and drag race when I can.
How has AMG impacted your professional growth and development?
I am more confident and relaxed with the campus community after attending many of the lunch time events and meeting various professionals from all across the campus. It is inspiring the amount of talent we have at UCLA.
