ACE

The Advising Communities of Excellence (ACE)Professional Development Program is open to all campus professionals, enabling academic advisors to build an inclusive community on campus intended to foster advising excellence. Through interactive programs designed to facilitate growth and learning, ACE creates spaces for campus professionals to connect and collaborate. Together, advisors and campus partners explore the relationship between theory and practice in order to build supportive learning communities, and to create a shared language of both academic advising and student support within the campus community. ACE aims to cultivate a more intentional academic advising culture that cultivates staff and student growth by promoting lifelong learning.

Program Offerings

  • ACE Reads
    • ACE Reads was designed to build community through collaborative study; practice theory as it pertains to topics of interest within the advising community at UCLA; and theorize practice by developing tools, strategies, and resources based on the literature that can be shared throughout the advising community.
  • ACE Mentoring
    • The ACE Mentoring Program was created to foster connections across UCLA campus colleagues and provide opportunities for professional growth through their roles as a mentor or mentee.
    • The UCLA ACE Mentoring Program will provide current advising professionals with a space to:
      • Foster and enhance the personal and professional growth of its participants
      • Create and build a sense of community among on-campus professionals
      • Welcome and support both new and seasoned UCLA staff throughout their professional journeys
      • Cultivate connections and collaborations across campus
  • Workshops:
    • ACE offers interactive workshops that foster collaborative spaces of learning to more effectively support students and staff.
  • ACE Talks:
    • ACE Talks features the unheard narratives of professional staff! Our journeys are rarely linear. Many of us have traversed a winding path, both personally and professionally. Given that we are in critical positions to guide students through their academic, professional, and personal journeys, it is imperative that we create fruitful spaces where we can reflect, share, and learn from each other’s stories. This initiative aims to empower advisors, and aspires to foster brave spaces where we may be seen and heard, and where we may cultivate deep connections.
