UCLA AMG announces Proshare 2017-18

WHAT IS PROSHARE?

ProShare is a 6-month networking and support program that assigns interested staff to a small group of UCLA professionals who are uniquely suited to support one another regarding challenges they face at their work in addition to learning more about different areas throughout UCLA.

WHAT DO THESE GROUPS DO?

Following a program launch meeting in January, groups of 4-6 members each will meet once per month for 90-120 minutes January through June. Each month, the meeting will be hosted by a different group member who will determine the agenda and issues to be discussed. Typical meetings will include:

• A tour of the host’s facility or office (if appropriate)
• A short presentation by the host about his/her division/department/office and his/her role
• Confidential discussion focusing on issues the host is currently managing, with input from other group members as to possible solutions and resources
• Confidential discussion during which other group members may bring their own issues to the table for feedback and advice

WHEN ARE THE MEETINGS?

Members will collaboratively determine the best meeting times for their group. Because of the nature of the program, every effort must be made by every member to be at every meeting. If your schedule is regularly impacted by unpredictable changes this may not be the program for you.

In addition to the January-June meetings, there will be an important launch meeting on Thursday, January 18, 2018 from 12 noon to 1pm, where you will meet your group and determine meeting times.

There will also be two mid-program networking events and a celebratory wrap-up meeting.

DO THE GROUPS HAVE LEADERS?

One member from each group will serve as a facilitator whose responsibilities will include managing group communication, sending out reminders about upcoming meetings and liaising with AMG regarding any issues or needs the group runs into. Facilitators will be chosen by their groups at the ProShare launch meeting in January.

WHAT WILL I GAIN FROM BEING PART OF THIS PROGRAM?

The main benefit of ProShare is the opportunity to network with and learn from UCLA colleagues in a confidential and supportive setting. In addition to having your specific concerns be the focus of one of the group’s meetings, you’ll be building relationships with a brain trust you can call on in the future. Additionally, by attending meetings hosted by your group-mates, you’ll gain exposure to and perspective on areas of UCLA you may never have been aware of otherwise.
