DESCRIPTION:Special guest speaker\, Vice Chancellor Jerry Kang\n“Immaculate Perception” | Exploring implicit bias and the phenomenon of automatic processing \nClick below to view this excellent presentation by Vice Chancellor Jerry Kang- UCLA Logon Required \nImmaculate Perception and Managing a Diverse Workforce \nFollowing Vice Chancellor Kang’s presentation\, Staff Diversity & Compliance Office (“SD&C”) will provide an overview of “best practices” for managing a diverse workforce and promoting an inclusive work environment.  More specifically\, the talk will review “real-world” cause scenarios investigated by SD&C and highlight examples where allegations of the non-discrimination policies were violated.  Also\, an excerpt from the Manager’s Tool Kit authored by the UCLA Staff & Faculty Counseling Center entitled “Creating an Inclusive Workplace” will be handed out. \nStaff Diversity & Compliance Office Speakers\nGeorge Tejadilla\, Asst. Director\, has led the SD&C office for the last 5 years. His office investigates allegations of workplace discrimination\, sexual harassment\, and retaliation of and concerning staff. Additionally\, George’s office ensures UCLA\, as a federal contractor\, remains compliant with federal EEO regulations concerning workforce diversity. His office also conducts training workshops concerning the nondiscrimination and harassment policies. He attained his law degree from Georgetown Law School and his B.A. from the School of Public Policy at USC. John Jividen\, Complaint Resolution Officer\, joined the UCLA family 2 years ago. John is an experienced investigator and trainer who was a top performer for over 5 years while at USC\, conducting hundreds of interviews and investigations of complex cases involving faculty\, staff\, and students. He is well versed in policies regarding discrimination and harassment in higher ed. He previously practiced law as a litigator in the private sector\, having graduated from Pepperdine Law School.
