DESCRIPTION:2016 CALL FOR AMG BOARD MEMBER CANDIDATES! \nINTERESTED IN BECOMING MORE ACTIVE IN AMG? Board membership offers opportunities for networking and professional development\, and board members frequently communicate with senior leadership on campus. You’ll have an opportunity to focus on your own career trajectory and to get more involved with UCLA at the same time! \nOPEN POSITIONS \nThe following four (4) positions are open for 2016 – 18 Term: \n\nSpecial Projects Coordinator\nInformation Technology Coordinator\nCommunications Liaison\nMember-at-Large\n\nOPEN POSITIONS \nInformation Technology Coordinator ‐ Attend Board meetings; work with the Communications Liaison\, other AMG officers\, and AMG’s assigned contacts in Campus Human Resources (CHR) and AIS on how best to utilize the website to its full capacity. Knowledge of WordPress. Includes making assessments and recommendations and implementing enhancements to the website that will further AMG’s mission (e.g. developing a multimedia presence on the website\, establishing and maintaining a Facebook presence and facilitating online communications among members via LinkedIn.). The IT Coordinator shall be a voting member of the Board. \nCommunications Liaison – Attend Board meetings; act as the liaison to the CHR staff designate regarding content updates to the AMG website. Maintain the AMG listserv. Send all mass email communications to the membership. Provide leadership and devise innovative methods for increasing membership and improving the visibility of the organization. This may include developing plans for outreach and organizational marketing\, producing the AMG newsletter The Memo\, identifying opportunities for outreach\, and providing marketing support for event and program promotion. The Communications Liaison shall be a voting member of the Board. \nSpecial Projects Coordinator – Attend Board meetings; coordinate programs and activities for AMG members and the larger UC\, including programs co-sponsored with other campus groups. Work with fellow board members to develop initiatives. Advise and oversee the work of all Ad Hoc Committees formed to complete short-term projects. Report on the progress of these projects to the Board.  Collaborate with the Communications Liaison on program marketing materials and messaging. The Special Projects Coordinator shall be a voting member of the Board. \nMember-at-Large – Attend Board meetings\, and conduct projects/duties assigned by the Chair and/or Committee Chairs. Serve on at least one standing committee and assist with putting on at least one event. The Members‐at‐Large shall be voting members of the Board. \n  \nAPPOINTMENT & ELECTION PROCESS (from the AMG bylaws) \nAn Appointment and Election process will be held each spring quarter to replace any Board members whose terms are expiring\, with new officers taking office in July. \nThe Special Projects Coordinator and Communications Liaison positions will be filled by an election process. Candidates may nominate themselves. Prior to being included on the ballot\, candidates must be approved by a majority of the Board. The full membership of the Administrative Management Group will be eligible to vote for all elected positions (other than the Vice‐Chair). A majority of those voting will be required for election. In case of a tie\, a run‐off election will be held within five business days of the initial election’s conclusion. \nThe IT Coordinator position will be filled through an appointment process. Candidates may nominate themselves.  A majority of Board members voting will be required to approve an appointment. DESCRIPTION:This AMG Book Club meeting on the UCLA Common book: I Never Had it Made by Jackie Robinson which was facilitated by Librarian\, Lise Snyder. \nWe had wonderful discussions on the choice of Jackie Robinson\, the impact(s) he had on the Civil Rights movement and what recent events mean in terms of this ongoing Civil Rights struggle\, progress and process.  This book provided a context for a discussion that was valuable to those in attendance whether it had been a book club event or simply a roundtable discussion on these same topics.
