DESCRIPTION:Projects can be exciting and career enhancing\, but can also be difficult to juggle with one’s ongoing work. In a project-driven world\, it is estimated that 70% of projects fail. It is vital to use effective project management to ensure success. In this workshop\, you will learn strategies that the UCLA Library uses to help reduce the risk of project failure and balance three common project constraints—scope\, schedule and budget. You will also learn about the life cycle of a project and the recommended allocation of time between planning and implementing. \nThe speaker\, Bill Hackenberg\, will also provide an overview of Agile\, a new project methodology that has been used widely in software development. The principles of Agile can be applied to projects in various industries\, and prove useful when project requirements are unclear. The process helps to create solutions that evolve over time.
