SUMMARY:“Excel Pivot Tables: Challenges & Opportunities”
DESCRIPTION:Rey Soto\n“Excel Pivot Tables:  Challenges & Opportunities”\n\nA pivot table is a table of statistics that summarizes the data of more extensive table (such as from a database\, spreadsheet\, or business intelligence program). This summary might include sums\, averages\, or other statistics\, which the pivot table groups together in a meaningful way. Pivot tables are a technique in data processing. They enable a person to arrange and rearrange (or “pivot”) statistics in order to draw attention to useful information. With the need at UCLA to organize and analyze data\, it is increasing important for staff to have the skill to sort through data quickly and efficiently.\n\nIn this seminar\, Rey Soto\, data analyst ninja in the Fielding School of Public Health will provide a primer on the power of the pivot table\, what can be done in Excel and what the pivot table can do for you.

SUMMARY:AMG Author Series -Marco Iacoboni\, M.D. Ph.D.\, discusses his book\, “Mirroring People\, The Science of Empathy and How We Connect with Others”
DESCRIPTION:  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \nMarco Iacoboni\, M.D. Ph.D.\, is an Italian neurologist and neuroscientist that studied at the University “La Sapienza” in Rome\, Italy. In 1999 he joined the faculty of the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and became Director of the Neuromodulation Lab at the Ahmanson-Lovelace Brain Mapping Center. He is currently Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. He combines brain imaging and non-invasive brain stimulation to study neural systems and mechanisms in humans for sensory-motor integration\, higher cognitive functions\, and social cognition. His longstanding interest in the role of the body in shaping human cognition led him to explore the role of the human mirror neuron system in imitation\, empathy and social communication\, in health and disease. He is the author of the book for general readers Mirroring People\, The Science of Empathy and How We Connect with Others (Picador). The book is the culmination of years of research on neural mirroring in humans and the implications of this brain mechanism for understanding human nature.
